RG Zaku II 6

Last week was a big week here! Congratulations again to the winner, Andrew Turner! I'll post a wrap-up post before the end of this weekend, hopefully with a pic of Andrew and his HG RX-178 kit. For now, here are some more WIP pics of my RG Zaku II.

To be honest, I didn't really like this mobile suit to begin with. I sensed a lot of people like the Zaku so I wanted to get a good dose of it to see what all the buzz is about, and the Texas Gundam Club's group build was what I needed to get me started. The kit didn't really start to look good in my opinion until I started putting the decals on. They really tie the kit together an I am so glad I went with water slides!

I only have a few more to apply then I'll go into full on panel line mode. I've already started panel lining one of the legs but there is much much more to be done, as this kit has a lot of detail. I also started in on the weapons. Her ya go :)

Head and side skirt armor. Can you see the tiny decal on the base of the antenna?  Look closely, I'll wait. THERE IT IS! It's like the monster at the end of the book!

The white decals on the black chestnoieces tie the look together like The Dude's Rug. I love how mechanical this section looks on its own. Have we decided what those pipes are for? Coolant or something?

Love that logo! The copper metallics are going to need a lot of touch up, but I'm saving that for just before final top coat because the paint rubs off very easily.

What a difference some panel lines can make!
